Corrections Policy

Election Desk is committed to accuracy, transparency, and accountability in election reporting. When errors occur, we correct them promptly and clearly.

Our Commitment

Accuracy is central to public trust, particularly in election coverage. We take corrections seriously and view them as a necessary part of responsible journalism.

What We Correct

Election Desk corrects:

  • Factual errors
  • Incorrect data or dates
  • Misstated names, titles, or affiliations
  • Errors in legal or procedural descriptions
  • Misleading or incomplete information presented as fact

We do not issue corrections for:

  • Differences in interpretation or analysis
  • Clearly labeled opinion or perspective
  • Updates that reflect new information becoming available after publication (these are handled as updates)

How Corrections Are Made

When a correction is required:

  • The article is updated with the accurate information.
  • A correction notice is added to the bottom of the article.
  • The correction notice clearly explains what was changed.

Example correction notice:

Correction: An earlier version of this article misstated the date of the filing. The correct date is March 12. The article has been updated.

Corrections are dated to reflect when the change was made.

Updates vs. Corrections

  • Updates reflect new or evolving information and are labeled as updates.
  • Corrections address errors that were present at the time of publication.

We distinguish between the two to ensure clarity for readers.

Reader Submissions

Readers who believe an error has been made may submit a correction request through our contact page.

Requests should include:

  • The article title
  • The specific information in question
  • Supporting evidence or source material, if available

We review all credible correction requests.

Transparency

Election Desk does not remove articles solely due to errors. When possible, we correct the record rather than erase it. In rare cases where an article is withdrawn, a notice explaining the reason will remain.

Editorial Independence

Corrections are made based on evidence and editorial judgment. They are not influenced by political pressure, campaigns, advertisers, or donors.

Our Goal

Our goal is not perfection — it is honesty.
Correcting the record is part of earning and maintaining reader trust.
